This is barely a run-down of the story... I don't intend to summarize the entire series in any way... then what would be the fun be, when you read it. As well, the main reason people love a Manga is all the emotion you can see of all the different characters. I think it's completely redundant to read the text version of a manga. You're missing the best part... the reactions of the characters, the emotion... the really cute deformed faces and more! So this is just a summary to get you hooked to the story enough for you to buy the comic!!! Trust me, you want these comics!!!

As any other Manga, this story is about a girl... a girl named Momo. I love the way Miwa starts the story. It's so interesting. Alot of people miss this but the first page...the book starts with a sillouhette of two figures one lying and the other sitting at the beach embracing and it says: “...Her long hair touching my face...the crashing of waves close to my ears...my warm memories of summer...” So we know it's the memories of a guy... so you're thinking I'm confused. But it's important for later.

Then the story officially begins. We see a beautful, young tanned girl walking about the streets. There are old men staring at her, and she's all like "Quit staring, you old perverts". The men on the street tease her and say that she's a "playboy".

"Dark beach bunny skin, big round eyes that men think are vacuous, light-coloured hair everyone assues is bleached, Momo thinks to herself. Brazen --- Conceited --- A play girl. My looks always cause my problems."

She goes to school, she's in her first year of high school and we find out that everyone thinks that Momo is a wild crazy girl who hangs around the beach all the time, that must be why she's all tanned. Because of her tanned skin, everyone gets the impression that she must be a real "loose" or "easy" girl. Infact Momo has 100 times more melanin than most people so, she tans really easily.

This is when Sae enters the story. Sae runs up to Momo and they go to school together. We find out that they are good friends. They are both at her locker when Momo notices Sae's bag. It is the same bag that Momo had really liked the day earlier when the two of them went shopping. But Momo couldn't afford it at the time and thought she would come back for it. Sae said it would go wrong with her hair and tried to convince her not to get it. Then she went back and got it herself. This is when we find out that Sae isn't the nice "best friend" like we thought. Infact...

"Sae copies everything of mine, Momo thinks to herself. People say the grass is always greener on the other side. But I say, if I were to pick up one blade of that grass, Sae would not rest until she had it. "

We no people like Sae. Sae and Momo walk down the halls of their school, and it seems all the people, especially the guys like Sae. We then meet Toji... the guy Momo has been crushing on since Jr. High. He's tall, dark and mysterious. He's nice, sweet and seems to have a quiet strength about him and he looks ....drool... really really really hot!!!! (just how we like 'em, right girls?). All the guys tease Momo about her tanned appearance and joke that she must be "easy" to get along with. But Toji stands up for her and says “Momo’s tan because she’s on the swim team. Not because she’s a beach bunny. Don’t say stuff you know nothing about.” Momo is beaming because she thinks "As long as he understands...I don’t care what anyone else thinks." And us the audience, we're practically glowing and giddy.

Next we see Momo put on Sunscreen. Sae asks why Momo was putting on sunscreen, and we find out that Momo doesn't want to get any tanner and that she wants her old ivory skin back. Apparently Toji said that he wouldn't go out with anyone who was darker than him. So Momo is trying to get whiter so Toji will like her finally.

"I’ve already lightened up since my last year of Jr. High. And if I keep this up, I’ll get lighter and lighter. Until I’m finally whiter than Toji. Momo looks over at Toji and continues thinking. And then it’ll finally happen. After all this waiting."

And I'm first thinking, Toji didn't actually say that did he? He couldn't, not our dream guy. He should like Momo just the way she is right? And you feel for Momo sooooo much. The poor thing, she's trying sooooo hard, so that Toji will like her. But in the meantime, Sae notices that Momo likes Toji. That can't be good right? So Sae asks Momo who she's crushing on. Ofcourse Momo knows that if Sae knows, that she might try to steal Toji for herself, like she does with everything else. Momo thinks:

Uh oh. She's got that look in her eye. What will I do? I'm in trouble! I need something...someone...This is it! I need a distraction! She's going to guess!!!

So in the heat of the moment, Momo points to a random guy with short black hair. Coincidentally, it happened to be Kiley! The hottest and most popular guy in school. And as Kiley walks by he winks at her.

Momo looks in shock once he does that. Her face turns VERY red and she turns and walks away. I..., she thinks in shock. He just... That was the first time a guy ever winked at me. I was in shock. The guy was Kiley Okayasu. He never even looked my way before...Talk about conceited. Momo is still look VERY red-faced while still thinking. THe kind of face that should be modeling something. It's easy to see why the girls make such a fuss. Even though Toji's a hundred times cooler.

As she turns to look at Kiley again, she sees Sae with Kiley and she gives a present to Kiley. Kiley blushes but accepts. I'm thinking, WHAT? That little.... How could Sae... right after Momo just said she liked him. Thank god she lied... that little.... I hate girls like that. But then I read on and... this is so good that I have to quote the whole section...

The next day,
"Hey, Kiley!" Sae calls.
Sae and Kiley are standing in a doorway, talking. Girls look over at them, jealous.
"There she is again," A girl says.
"Giving him that coy look. Some friend!" Another girl says.
She definetly works fast, Momo thinks, peeking out a classroom window. But she's so cute on the outside, none of the guys can see what's inside.
"Isn't that...?" Kiley questions, noticing Sae's new bag. "That bag?"
Sae looks at Kiley all modest,
"Oh this, you like it? Cute, huh?" Sae says, holding up her new bag(the one she stole from Momo).
"What are you doing with it?" Kiley asks.
"What do you mean?" Sae replies.
"Well, nothing, I just...my older sister's birthday is coming up and I was shopping for a present and I saw it at the store and...," Kiley replies.
"Oh, I see," Sae says. "Guess we have the same tastes." Sae acts all excited.
"Well, yeah, but...I kind of remember you thought it was tacky...," Kiley says. He recalls what happened at the store with Momo and Sae. Kiley was in the same store when Momo spotted the bag. "It was just last week," Kiley continues. "I saw you with a friend. She was saying she wanted it, and you told her how ugly it was."
Sae gets red-faced, knowing she was caught lying to get what she wants. She stands there shocked.
"But now you're carrying it," Kiley says. "That must mean that...So that's it." Kiley looks at Sae. Sae gets even more red-faced and embarrassed.
"Wh-What?" Sae replies, nervous. "What are you trying to say? That I tricked her and snuck back to..."

Kiley smiles and corners Sae at a way. She holds on to her bag, still red-faced.

"Look, I like a girl who knows what she wants," Kiley says to Sae. "But I don't want her playing guessing games about what she really wants. You should be more like that friend of yours. Momo. Nothing is worse for a relationship than lying."

And Kiley leaves her... rejected. I love it... I'm thinking YAY Kiley infact so is Momo. So now are you into the story yet??? We've met all the players and it gets soooo much better from here on in. So let see, Momo likes Toji but Sae thinks Momo likes Kiley. Whom she hits on but who seems to like Momo. What will happen? Will Momo finally get together with Toji? Will Kiley go after Momo? Will Sae find out Momo likes Toji and then what will she do to get Toji? Find out this and more.... in PEACH GIRL!!!!!!!!
